In the UK, the Qigong industry does not have a Governing Body. We have invested much in education over the years. We understand what the UK western educational system requires regarding transparency of qualifications and the necessary criteria for insurance purposes. In the UK educational system it is considered ‘bad practice’ if the School, Academy, College or Association is also a Governing Body as this would lead to bias. For this reason, the UK College of Qigong is not a Governing Body. However, we do have the license to teach our Qigong systems our lineage holders; we regulate all technical and theoretical aspects, assess, and provide Instructor licenses to those who pass the learning criteria. In fact, we have written and own copyright to all our Qigong Instructor Courses.
Although we have deep respect for our Chinese ancestors, China has an entirely different educational system and grading system to Western education. We have liaised with County Councils, NHS Governors and Commissioners, Social Services and Western Universities to agree criteria. Suffice to say our courses and assessment criteria have therefore been written for the UK market. We know what the public require; we know what insurance companies require in that medical qigong has different criteria to general qigong for health and wellness. We have done the hard work for you. All you need to do is enjoy your learning and have the confidence that you will be taught everything you need to pass the learning criteria to set up successful classes in your community.
Officially, anyone can become certified.
But here at the UK College of Qigong, we are very particular about who we work with.
We’ve spent 40 years delivering Qigong courses and created the next generation of instructors.
During that time, we’ve even had to politely turn people away from our courses who don’t embrace the Qigong philosophy or ethics.
So before you do anything else, read the table below to see whether you’d make a good Qigong instructor:-
Who shouldn’t become a Qigong Instructor with us:
Anyone who…
Wants to ‘get qualified’ and go on their way
Hates being outdoors
Isn’t open to being a student and thinks they already know everything
Expects it to fit into Reiki, Pilates and Yoga models
Expects to make millions from becoming a Qigong instructor
Doesn’t appreciate a realistic business model
Who should become a Qigong Instructor
Anyone who…
Wants to help others stay fit and healthy through a gentle, low-impact exercise that doesn’t require access to expensive and noisy gyms
Has a burning desire to spend your days amongst calming nature
Has the desire to cultivate inner peace in yourself and others
Would love to immerse themselves in ancient Chinese culture
Recognises that attention to detail in the business of Qigong matters
Appreciates a perfectionistic Teacher with a direct, no-nonsense approach
Is open to a traditional, holistic approach to wellness
Is open and appreciative of receiving a successful business model based on 40 years in the business
Align to all those points? Great.
Then you’d make a great fit here at the UK College of Qigong.
We have a wide range of available courses to suit people from all levels of experience.
Once a student starts a Qigong Course with the UK College of Qigong, no refund is given under any circumstances. If you decide to leave the course, or you are asked to leave the course, no refund will be issued.
If you decide to leave the course, or you are asked to leave the course and have enrolled under the monthly instalments scheme, we are entitled to invoice for the full amount of the course. Once the course starts, it is not possible to recruit another student to fill your place.
We welcome everyone and operate a strict equal opportunities policy. If you show any disrespect towards our teachers and students, you will be asked to leave the course immediately. Healthy discussion and as many questions as you want to ask are permitted. Shouting, foul language, demanding behaviour, people pitching their own businesses or anyone enforcing their views will NOT be tolerated.
If you fail one of the assessments, such as the ‘Form’, we will try to help you as much as we can either via a phone telephone conversation, or a private zoom. Any hours outside the normal scope of the course will be invoiced. Please respect our time when extra help is offered.
If you fail a SUMMATIVE, we ask that you take the course again. There will be a cost implication.
When you join the UK College of Qigong, we express our gratitude by promoting you on our Qigong Directory website, Instagram, and Facebook at no cost. The photo you provide will be used to create eye-catching, professional graphics, including a round profile picture for your social media presence. We take great care in crafting these materials to ensure you have the best possible start as a new Qigong instructor or Qigong Clinician. Please note that any additional work beyond the initial setup, such as new pictures, removal from the site, will incur a fee of £60.00.
Our core teachers are American. Their teachers were Chinese. Although the content and theory are the same, our QIGONG systems have had to be adapted to accommodate the USA and UK market. Although the Qigong systems remain the same, we have full consent from our teachers to adapt our assessment criteria for the UK health and wellness market.
We pride ourselves in not overloading students with lengthy assignments and exams that may lead to anxiety and overwhelm. We do ask that you take the SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS seriously which consists of a test and a ‘set up safe’ business module. Both are emailed to students a couple of weeks before the course ends.
We are confident that the answers are supplied numerous times during the teaching videos. The SUMMATIVE is time to consolidate all that knowledge and demonstrate that you are safe to share your license with the public, either as a Qigong for health instructor or a Clinical Qigong Practitioner in a clinical setting.
If you fail the test and/or business module you will be required to re-take the course. There will be a financial implication.
Upon successfully completing the Summative Assessment for your designated Qigong set, whether focused on health or clinical practice, you will be granted a license to practice. This license also encompasses a comprehensive code of ethics. As with all licensing agreements, specific terms and conditions must be adhered to, including the requirement for annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
We base our Qigong grading structure on that of the National Qigong Association.
